Udi local government council is set to build an ultra modern truck park along the Ama breweries/Eke road, 9th mile Enugu in her bid to totally decongest the traffic bottlenecks associated with the area over the years.
Dropping the hint during a meeting with some stakeholders at the local government Secretariat recently, the Chairman of the local government council Hon. Ifeanyi Agu expressed worry over the spate of accidents at the 9th mile area due to the indiscriminate parking of trucks along the highway which is a major gateway out of Enugu coalcity.
Agu who said that the proposed truck park which will take not less than 500 trucks when completed, assured that the park will be modern in all respects and therefore it will settle the issues about allowing trucks to pack anywhere along the 9th miles roads, adding that the park would have within it other facilities such as motel, a bank, restaurants and a mini mechanic village in other to ensure that truckers and other associated businesses enjoy the ease of doing business at the area.
The Chairman also expressed appreciation to the governor of Enugu state, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for giving him the opportunity to serve and pledged his unalloyed loyalty the state government and his resolve to take Udi Local Government Area to the next level by rendering selfless and quality service to the people.
Some of those who spoke at the meeting namely, the Ezeoha of Eke, Hon. Ndubisi Okolo, Hon. Collins Amalu, Nze Philip Okoh, etc while promising to give Agu’s administration the needed support applauded his ideas and visionary leadership.
Present at the meeting were the traditional rulers and president generals of the communities where the proposed site is located and some other stakeholders of the local government.
