ECTDA confirms Ogbete Pedestrian Bridge Stable, Safe

…Says There Is Nothing To Worry About

A team of engineers from the Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, led by the Executive Chairman, Dr Josef Umunnakwe Onoh, accompanied by the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr Greg Nnaji, on Tuesday, carried out further reassessment of the ongoing Pedestrian Bridge construction, at Ogbete Main Market Enugu, reconfirming the stance of the works and infrastructure ministry that the structure is stable and safe for public use on completion.

In a statement signed by Dr Onoh, the ECTDA maintained that what was erroneously presented as a crack on the pedestrian bridge was “an expansion gap applicable in civil engineering” adding that “there is no stress or crack on the handrails indicating structural defects”.

The agency therefore maintained that “there is nothing to worry about” and urged residents of the state to disregard the erroneous impression earlier peddled on social media regarding the state of the bridge.
