The court of Appeal sitting in Lagos has uphold the election of Hon. Chukwuma Martins Ekwueme as the member representing Uzouwani Constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly.
The Appellate Court in a judgement delivered on Tuesday, upheld the ruling of the Enugu State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal which dismissed the petition of Thaddeus Utazi of Labour Party.
Utazi had approached the tribunal challenging the election of Ekwueme on the grounds that he wasn’t a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and alleged irregularities of name in his certificate.
The trial court had dismissed the petition for lacking in merit and a waste of time as the petitioner failed to prove any case of forgery and issue of nomination is a pre-election matter.
Not satisfied, Utazi headed to appeal court to challenge the ruling of the tribunal.
In a judgement delivered via Zoom, the judge dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit and upheld the election of Hon. Ekwueme.
