Enugu Police Operatives Raid Hideout, Arrest 3 Suspects, Recover Arms, Ammunition, Other Exhibits
Acting on credible information made available by the Enugu State Capital Territory Development Authority (ECTDA), Enugu State Police Command’s Operatives serving in Enugu Area Command raided a criminal hideout in the Centenary City area of Obeagu-Awkunanaw community in Enugu South Local Government Area on Friday, January 19, 2024.
A release from the Enugu state police command signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that the operational exercise led to the arrest of three male suspects, Emmanuel Nwabundo aged 39, from Abia State, Emmanuel Eze aged 35, and Anthony Onochie George aged 30, both from Anambra State, while others escaped.
Recovered in their possession according to the release, were eight pump action guns with four live and twenty-six expended cartridges.
Other exhibits recovered include one machete, four units of solar-powered CCTV cameras, thirteen assorted phones, one DVD player, and four bags and clothes, all suspected to be stolen, as well as objects suspected to be charms.
Preliminary investigation conducted revealed that the criminal elements and cohorts at large had been using the location as a hideout to hatch their criminal activities, including armed robbery, kidnapping, within Enugu metropolis and its environs.
The suspects shall be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, while hailing the operatives for the operational success, reaffirmed the avowed commitment of the Command to being more proactive and forward-looking in its quest to rid Enugu State of unrepentant criminals and their unwholesome activities.
CP Kanayo, called on the citizenry to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and continue to avail the Police of credible and actionable security information while also reporting criminals and their activities to the nearest Police Station.
