Government Of Dr Peter Mbah Is Interested Practically, Conveniently To Relate With NUJ – _Aka Eze Aka_
_By Hyginus Odo_
The Enugu State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Aka Eze Aka, has stated that the government of Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is interested in relating with the members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Enugu State Council.
Aka made this known, Tuesday, during a courtesy visit by the Union in his office.
He pointed out that the Governor was so much interested in information dissemination and “that is why for about three years without a commissioner in the Ministry of Information, His Excellency came and revived the Ministry”.
“The government of his excellency, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah is very information friendly. “When he came on board, he decided that there should be a Ministry of Information; that’s why I am here, coming from your own stock.
“So, I would like to tell you that this government is interested practically and conveniently to relate with you people as a body and as individuals.
“I need to work with you so that we can push Enugu State forward and with all due respect, His Excellency is driving towards achieving some threshold where he can make Enugu State as one of the top three states in Nigeria in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and achieve zero-poverty-index rate.
“This is not an easy affair even though we mouth it, we should understand that it calls for a lot of sacrifice,” Aka stated.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Union, Comr. Sam Udekwe appreciated good works the Commissioner has been doing in the Ministry and State at large and sought the government’s more support in terms of the Union’s Welfare.
He stressed amongst others things that through the Commissioner, the present government could help, not just because other state Councils of NUJ had gotten buses to help them carry out their duties diligently but providing vehicle for the Union would help them for state, Zonal and National Assignments.
The Vice Chairman of the Union, Comr. Rejis Anukwuoji, in appreciation of the Commissioner’s warm reception, emphasised that the essence of the government observing the presence of the Union in the state was because when the journalists publish the roads being Constructed and rehabilitated as well as Hotel Presidential and the International Conference Centre under rehabilitation, smart schools all over the wards in the state, no one would say the journalists have turned into praise singers.
Present to welcome the representatives of the state working committee, Comrades Sam Udekwe, Rejis Anukwuoji, Dame Ifeoma Amuta, Chigozie Alex Nwafor, and Anthonia Okafor, were the Chairman of the State Information Chapel, Comr. Hyginus Odo and his Vice, Comr. Ugochi Nwoke.
