Embracing Experiential Learning in Enugu State University Education

Enugu State, Nigeria, has embarked on an ambitious initiative to revolutionize its university education system by integrating experiential learning. This bold vision was incubated by His Excellency Dr./Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. It aims to break away from the limitations of the colonial-era education system, which emphasized rote learning and mimicry and instead fostered a culture of hands-on learning and entrepreneurial skills development.
In a thought-provoking lecture titled “Experiential Learning: How to Develop the Wealth of the Nation,” Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah challenged his audience to revisit and revitalize the traditional apprenticeship system employed by their forebears. This approach, rooted in indigenous knowledge and practices, has the potential to empower students with practical skills and expertise, thereby driving socioeconomic development in the Southeast geo-political zone and beyond.
