Police Dismisses Assassination Attempt News on Lt Ahmed Yerima

Information reaching the Chroniclegist news desk reveals that the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has dismissed a fast-spreading social media claim alleging that an assassination attempt was made on Lt. Ahmed Yerima, describing the report as entirely false and capable of causing unnecessary fear among residents.

In a statement signed by SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command on Sunday, the Command said it had no record, report, or indication of such an incident occurring anywhere within Abuja. It urged the public to treat the claim as a deliberate misinformation campaign.

“The attention of the Command has been drawn to publications alleging an attempted assassination on Lt. Ahmed Yerima.

We categorically state that no such incident has taken place within the Federal Capital Territory,” the statement read.

The Command cautioned residents against the circulation of unverified information, stressing that such rumours often trigger avoidable panic and disrupt public peace.

It further appealed to citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and responsible in their use of social media, noting that public safety relies heavily on cooperation, accurate reporting, and community awareness.
Residents were encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
