The Secretary to Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, Barr. Casmir Ademu, has been formally called to the Nigerian Bar. The ceremony, held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Abuja, saw 675 new lawyers admitted as Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in a landmark event conducted by the Council of Legal Education (CLE).

Ademu, who now assumes full professional status as an advocate of the Supreme Court, described the moment as both “fulfilling and divinely timed,” marking the culmination of a long academic and professional journey.

Before venturing into the legal profession, Ademu distinguished himself in the field of engineering. He studied Electrical & Electronic Engineering at the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, where he earned his National Diploma (ND), and later obtained his Higher National Diploma (HND) from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.

Born and raised in Ogurugu, Ademu attended Onoja Primary School (1991) before continuing to Community Secondary School, Ogurugu, and Nsukka High School, Nsukka.

As the current Secretary to the Uzo-Uwani Local Government, Ademu is widely regarded as a committed public servant whose tenure has been defined by diligence, administrative innovation, and a people-centered approach to governance.

“Today, I am overwhelmed with joy. Becoming a lawyer has always been a heart desire, not for personal glory, but to be better positioned to give voice to the voiceless through the instrumentality of law,” he said.

He noted that his role in government and his legal training now complement each other in meaningful ways.

“It is a divine coincidence that I was found worthy to serve as Secretary of Uzo-Uwani at a time when I was completing my professional legal journey. My background in engineering, arbitration, administration, and now law, has added immense value to the way I serve our people.”

Ademu reaffirmed his readiness to deploy his legal expertise to promote justice, responsible governance, and community development.

The Call to Bar ceremony marks a major milestone in Ademu’s expanding career, earning him both professional distinction and widespread goodwill among colleagues, constituents, and admirers.
