Christmas Cheer: Uzo Uwani LG Chair Distributes 4,000 Bags of Rice to Teachers, Workers, Others
In the spirit of the Yuletide, the Chairman of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, Barr Chijioke Ezugwu, has distributed over 4,000 bags of rice to primary school teachers and council workers to cushion the effects of economic hardship ahead of the Christmas celebrations.
Other beneficiaries of the gesture include councillors, community leaders, traditional rulers, party representatives and other stakeholders across the local government area.
The distribution exercise, which held on Monday at the Chairman’s country home in Nkpologu, underscored Ezugwu’s commitment to welfare support, a policy he has consistently sustained since his inauguration as Chairman of the LGA in 2024.
The initiative, according to the council boss, is aimed at easing the financial burden on teachers and other beneficiaries, while ensuring a joyous and memorable Christmas celebration for families in the area.
Speaking during the exercise, Ezugwu emphasised the need for peace and unity during the festive season. He also expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, for what he described as his fatherly support and unwavering commitment to the development of Uzo Uwani Local Government Area and the state at large.
“It is my sincere prayer that Almighty God grants us a peaceful and joyous Christmas as we return to our various communities,” he said.
“I also wish to use this opportunity to convey our deep gratitude to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, for his love for Uzo Uwani and the entire state throughout the year.
“It is our prayer that God continues to strengthen him and grant him the wisdom to sustain the delivery of the dividends of democracy to our people. Merry Christmas in advance to us all,” Ezugwu concluded.
