Omasi Re-elects Okafor as PG, Hails Sustained Gains of Good Leadership

The Omasi community in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State on Wednesday (31/12/25) re-elected Chief Alfred Okafor as the President General (PG) of the Omasi Town Union, following a peaceful election in which he was returned unopposed.

Chief Okafor, who has served the community for the past three years, will now pilot the affairs of Omasi for another three-year tenure, a development widely described by stakeholders as a consolidation of purposeful and people-oriented leadership.

Speaking on the outcome of the election, community leaders, Prophet Uche Okafor, Damian Obiakor, and Mr Timothy Okafor, said the re-election of the PG was a clear testament to his integrity, transparency and achievements in office.

According to Uche Okafor, “Chief Alfred Okafor’s administration has restored sanity and accountability to the administrative structure of Omasi. His leadership style has brought peace, unity and direction to the community”.

Timothy Okafor particularly commended the PG’s role in reclaiming the Farm Settlement to Omasi territory, describing it as a landmark achievement borne out of foresight and resilience.

“The recovery of the Farm Settlement remains one of the biggest gains of this administration. It shows that Chief Okafor is a leader with vision, courage and commitment to the collective interest of our people. His re-election is simply a payback for good work,” he said.

The leaders, however, urged the re-elected PG to continue to extend an olive branch to all segments of the community in order to sustain unity and inclusive governance.

In a related reaction, the Omasi Youth Leader, High Chief Okoye Chimezie, described Chief Okafor’s re-emergence as a morale booster for effective leadership in the community.

“This victory is a motivation for credible leadership. The youths of Omasi are encouraged by the achievements recorded so far, and we assure the PG of our continued support in promoting sanity, productivity and community development”, Chimezie stated.

Also speaking, the Commander of the Agunechemba Security Outfit in Omasi, Mr Chidera Uba, praised the security architecture put in place by the President General, noting that it has significantly enhanced peace and safety in the area.

“We commend the PG for prioritising security. Agunechemba, in collaboration with other security agencies, remains committed to ridding Omasi of restiveness and violent crimes”, Uba assured.

In his acceptance speech, the re-elected President General, Chief Alfred Okafor, expressed gratitude to the people of Omasi for the renewed confidence reposed in him.

“I am deeply humbled by this mandate. Your trust challenges me to do more, and I assure you that my administration will remain inclusive and development-driven”, he said.

Chief Okafor called on all stakeholders to join hands with him in the task of building a stronger and more prosperous Omasi community.

He further disclosed that his administration has concluded plans to fully harness the economic potential of the reclaimed Farm Settlement, with a vision of transforming Omasi into a major agricultural hub in Anambra State and beyond.

“Agriculture remains our strength. We are determined to deploy the Farm Settlement as a catalyst for job creation, food security and sustainable economic growth for our people”, the PG added.

The re-election of Chief Alfred Okafor is seen by many as a vote of confidence in continuity, stability and progressive leadership in Omasi community.
