352 Enugu Police Inspectors Promoted to ASP, Warned on Displine
No fewer than 352 Inspectors of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Enugu State Command have been elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP II), following their successful participation in a recent Departmental Selection Board screening.
Decorating the newly promoted officers on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, charged them to justify their new status as superior police officers through discipline, dedication and professionalism.
The decoration ceremony, held at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Enugu, was attended by members of the Command’s Management Team, Divisional Police Officers, senior officers, as well as spouses, family members and friends of the beneficiaries.
The promotion, approved by the Police Service Commission on the recommendation of the Nigeria Police Force high command, followed the officers’ successful screening at the Departmental Selection Board exercise conducted at Zone 13 Zonal Command, Ukpo, Dunukofia, Anambra State.
Addressing the officers, CP Giwa congratulated them on what he described as a well-deserved elevation and reminded them that promotion comes with greater responsibility and higher expectations.
“You must justify this elevation to the rank of a Superior Police Officer through discipline, dedication and professionalism,” he said, warning that any acts of omission or commission in the discharge of their duties would be treated with utmost seriousness.
The Commissioner further stressed that the promoted officers would undergo a mandatory two-year probationary period, during which they are expected to maintain unblemished service records before their promotion can be confirmed to the substantive rank of ASP.
He urged them to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation and to contribute meaningfully to ongoing efforts aimed at strengthening security across Enugu State.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Abuchi Ugwuagu expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for recommending them for promotion and to the Police Service Commission for approving it.
Ugwuagu assured the police leadership of their commitment to justify the confidence reposed in them by discharging their duties diligently and upholding the core values of the Force.
The event marked a significant milestone in the careers of the officers and underscored the Command’s commitment to rewarding merit, professionalism and dedication within its ranks.
