IED Blast Destroys APC in Zamfara, Casualties Uncertain

An Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) belonging to the Nigerian Army has been destroyed by an improvised explosive device (IED) along the Keta–Danjibga road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident, which occurred on Friday evening, was disclosed on Saturday by security analyst Bakatsine. According to him, the troops were escorting civilian vehicles along the high-risk route when the explosion happened.

Eyewitnesses said the IED detonated as the military vehicle passed, engulfing the APC in flames.

Local sources further alleged that suspected bandits were seen celebrating shortly after the blast and reportedly claimed responsibility upon confirming that the armoured vehicle had been set ablaze.

As of press time, the exact number of casualties resulting from the attack could not be ascertained.
