Ezugwu Eyes Reps Seat for Udenu/Igbo-Eze North

A former Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Dr Ikechukwu Ezugwu, has indicated interest in contesting for the House of Representatives seat for Udenu/Igbo-Eze North Federal Constituency on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Comrade Moses Apeh, Coordinator of the Igboeze North/Udenu Youth Vanguard, who noted that the move has begun to generate discussions across the constituency.

Apeh described Ezugwu as an experienced legislator, stating that his tenure in the Enugu State House of Assembly underscores his capacity to deliver effective representation at the national level.

According to him, Ezugwu built a reputation for diligence and strategic leadership while in office, earning recognition for his role in shaping legislation aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.

“He was widely regarded as a lawmaker’s lawmaker, ensuring that bills were not only passed but properly structured to impact the lives of the people,” Apeh said.

Beyond his legislative career, Apeh highlighted Ezugwu’s grassroots engagement through the Ike Ezugwu Foundation, which he said has sustained interventions across Enugu State and the South-East.

He listed the foundation’s activities to include scholarship awards for indigent students, youth empowerment through vocational training, and healthcare support for underserved communities.

Apeh further noted that Ezugwu’s choice of the ADC platform reflects a growing inclination towards alternative political platforms anchored on accountability and inclusive governance.

He added that residents of Udenu and Igbo-Eze North Federal Constituency are showing increasing interest in his aspiration, particularly in view of the area’s infrastructure challenges and the need for stronger representation in federal decision-making.

“With his deep understanding of legislative processes, he will not require time to adjust in Abuja. He has the capacity to deliver from day one,” Apeh added.

He expressed optimism that Ezugwu’s experience, combined with his grassroots connection, would position him to provide the quality representation the constituency seeks, as political activities ahead of party primaries gather momentum.
