Ikemba Clinches NDC Reps Ticket for Nsukka/Igboeze South

After days of suspense and intense political permutations, the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency seat has emerged.
A United States-based medical practitioner, Dr Hillary Onyishi, popularly known as Ikemba, secured victory in the party’s primary election, defeating several prominent aspirants in a keenly contested race.
Among the leading contenders was Barr Tony Ugwu, who had been widely tipped by political observers as a strong favourite for the ticket.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Onyishi attributed his victory to God and the people of Nsukka/Igboeze South Federal Constituency for their confidence in his ability to provide effective representation.
He lamented what he described as years of inadequate representation of the constituency, noting that the situation had contributed significantly to the slow pace of infrastructural and socio-economic development in the area.
The NDC flag bearer pledged to champion policies and programmes that would accelerate development across the constituency and improve the welfare of the people.
He also called on party faithful and supporters to remain united and mobilise massively for the forthcoming elections, urging them to vote for NDC candidates at all levels.
According to him, the NDC remains the political platform best positioned to deliver meaningful change and build a better Nigeria.
Meanwhile, other candidates who emerged from the party primaries include Barr Fide Ani, who secured the ticket for the Igbo-Etiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency, and Bishop Oscar Ossai, who emerged as the party’s candidate for the Enugu North Senatorial District seat.
