One Week to Go: Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 Raises Expectations Across Enugu

Enugu State is witnessing heightened anticipation ahead of the maiden edition of Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026, with the much-awaited youth engagement programme scheduled to hold in exactly one week.
The event, slated for Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Enugu, is being convened by the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Peter Ogbonna Eze.
The programme is themed: “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths Through the Federal Character Commission.”
The initiative has continued to generate growing interest among young people across Enugu State and beyond, particularly those seeking credible information and practical guidance on opportunities capable of improving their careers, businesses and livelihoods.
Eze, regarded as one of the prominent young leaders emerging from Enugu State, conceived the programme as a practical response to one of the critical challenges confronting young Nigerians—the difficulty of identifying, understanding and effectively accessing available opportunities.
For many young people, observers note, the challenge is not necessarily the absence of opportunities, but inadequate access to timely, accurate and credible information on how to locate and pursue them.
Against this backdrop, Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 is expected to provide a platform for young people to gain valuable insights into employment opportunities, scholarships, grants, fellowships, internships, government programmes, private-sector initiatives, digital opportunities, entrepreneurship, career development and leadership.
Unlike conventional youth empowerment programmes often characterised by speeches and motivational sessions, the initiative is structured around information, access, practical guidance and meaningful connections to opportunities.
Speaking on the rationale behind the programme, Eze said the objective was to equip young people with the knowledge required to move beyond merely hearing about opportunities to understanding how to pursue and secure them.
> “Our objective is to help young people understand where legitimate opportunities exist, how to identify them, how to apply, what is required, and how to position themselves for success,” Eze said.
He noted that thousands of young Nigerians possess the qualifications, talent and determination required to succeed, but are frequently disadvantaged by a lack of timely and reliable information.
According to him, the initiative is designed to bridge the information gap by creating an avenue where young people can learn, connect and position themselves for opportunities at both national and international levels.
The event is expected to draw participants from the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State, including students, graduates, entrepreneurs, job seekers, professionals and young people interested in career and personal development.
Eze urged Enugu youths to take full advantage of the platform, stressing that access to the right information, backed by adequate preparation and determination, could significantly enhance their prospects of success.
He also challenged young people to abandon the culture of passive expectation and develop the capacity to identify, pursue and strategically position themselves for available opportunities.
With only seven days to the event, the rising interest surrounding Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 points to the possibility of a significant conversation on youth development in Enugu State.
The programme, organisers say, seeks to redirect the narrative from promises to access, information to action, and passive expectation to purposeful pursuit of opportunities.
