Uzo-Uwani Teachers Laud LG Chairman Ezugwu for Unprecedented Christmas Gesture
Teachers in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State have commended the Chairman of the council, Barr Chijioke Ezugwu, for what they described as an unprecedented show of goodwill and support to educators in the area through the distribution of Christmas gifts.
In a letter of appreciation dated December 23, 2025, and addressed to the council chairman, the teachers expressed profound gratitude for the gesture, noting that it has boosted morale and reinforced their sense of belonging and recognition within the local government.
Speaking on behalf of the teachers, Mrs Okeh Osorochim Evelyn, Coordinator of Uzo-Uwani Teachers for Barr Chijioke Ezugwu, said the Christmas gifts came at a critical time when motivation and encouragement are essential for teachers to continue discharging their responsibilities effectively.
According to her, the initiative stands out as a landmark achievement, as no previous chairman in the history of Uzo-Uwani Local Government had extended such generosity to teachers.
“The gesture has brought immense joy and encouragement to teachers across the local government. It has made this festive season particularly meaningful and has strengthened our resolve to remain committed to shaping the future of our children through quality education,” she stated.
Mrs Okeh further praised the chairman for his consistent support for education and for recognizing the pivotal role teachers play in societal development, adding that the goodwill has inspired renewed dedication among the teaching workforce.
The teachers also pledged their unwavering support to Barr Ezugwu in his political career and offered prayers for his continued elevation and success beyond the local government level.
They prayed that God would grant him good health, wisdom, and greater opportunities to serve at higher levels of governance, including the national stage.
Barr Ezugwu’s gesture has continued to attract commendation from various quarters, with many stakeholders describing it as a demonstration of inclusive leadership and a strong commitment to human capital development in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area.
