In a demonstration of gratitude to party faithful and a renewed commitment to grassroots politics, the Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Senator Ikeje Asogwa, on Saturday attended the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward Meeting in Esodo Ward 2, Igbo Eze North Local Government Area.
The meeting also featured the presentation of the first tranche of the ₦10 million cash prize earlier pledged by renowned philanthropist, Dr Chirote Damian Odo, popularly known as Messiah Na Nsukka, through the Chirote Ogadimma Empowerment Foundation, to reward outstanding electoral performance during the recent Enugu North Senatorial by-election.
Senator Asogwa, accompanied by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Hillary Ogili, and other political appointees, arrived at the event held at Community Primary School, Umuagama, to a warm reception by party leaders, stakeholders, members, and enthusiastic residents.
Welcoming the distinguished senator, Dr Chirote Odo expressed appreciation to him for honouring the ward meeting with his presence and congratulated him on his overwhelming victory in the June 20 Enugu North Senatorial by-election.
He noted that Senator Asogwa’s attendance underscored his appreciation for the unwavering support, sacrifices, and commitment demonstrated by APC members throughout the electioneering campaign, adding that it was the senator’s first official appearance at a party gathering since his electoral victory.
Dr Odo recalled that on June 19, 2026, the Chirote Ogadimma Empowerment Foundation announced a ₦10 million cash reward to be shared among the three best-performing APC wards in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area as an incentive for outstanding electoral performance during the senatorial by-election.
According to him, Esodo Ward 2 emerged as the overall best-performing ward and was consequently awarded ₦5 million.
“On June 19, 2026, through the Chirote Ogadimma Empowerment Foundation, I pledged a ₦10 million cash reward for the first, second and third best-performing wards in the Enugu North Senatorial by-election in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area. Today, we are fulfilling that promise.
“Esodo Ward 2 emerged as the overall winner and will receive ₦5 million. Out of this amount, ₦1 million will be shared among eligible voters with valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), while two lucky beneficiaries—one from each of the two communities that make up Esodo Ward 2—will receive ₦2 million each.”
Addressing the gathering, Senator Ikeje Asogwa expressed profound appreciation to the people for their overwhelming support and confidence during the election, assuring them that he would provide purposeful and effective representation in the National Assembly.
“I am here to say a very big thank you. Words cannot adequately express how grateful I am for your support and the confidence you reposed in me during the election. I assure you that I will continue to protect and promote the interests of every constituent while providing quality representation for Enugu North Senatorial District in the Red Chamber.
“I also sincerely appreciate our brother, Dr Chirote Damian Odo, popularly known as Messiah Na Nsukka, for fulfilling his promise to our people. Together, we will continue to justify the confidence and trust you have placed in us.”
The event attracted several APC leaders and stakeholders, including the Senator’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Hillary Ogili; the APC Women Leader in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs Ngozi Ezeja; the Councillor-elect for Esodo Ward 2, Hon. Desmond Eke; the Ward Chairman; and numerous party faithful.
The meeting not only reaffirmed the unity and strength of the APC in Igbo Eze North but also highlighted a growing culture of rewarding political participation and grassroots commitment.
Senator Ikeje Asogwa’s presence and Dr Chirote Damian Odo’s fulfilment of his ₦10 million pledge reflected a shared commitment to accountable leadership, appreciation of loyal party members, and the consolidation of the APC’s grassroots structure across Enugu North Senatorial District. Together, both leaders demonstrated that promises made to the people are meant to be fulfilled, further strengthening public confidence in responsible and people-oriented leadership.
