Mbah Heads Enugu APC Campaign Council, Names 51 Directorate Heads
…Nnamani, Nwobodo, Chime, Ugwuanyi, Nnaji, Arthur Eze, others get advisory roles

…Council’s inauguration holds Tuesday
The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its campaign council for the 2027 general elections, with Governor Peter Mbah appointed Chairman.
The campaign structure, comprising 51 directorates, brings together political leaders, serving and former public office holders, party chieftains and other stakeholders to coordinate the party’s activities ahead of the elections.
The Deputy Governor, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai; APC Deputy National Chairman (South); Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Ugwu; and the state party chairman, Dr Martin Chukwunweike, will serve as vice chairmen of the council.
According to the list signed by Chukwunweike and the state APC Secretary, Hon. Chukwudi Nnadozie, Chief Charlie Mbah has been appointed Director-General of the Campaign Organisation, while Dr Eric Oluedo will serve as Secretary-General.
Deacon Okey Ogbodo, Dr Dan Shere and Hon. S.K.E. Udeh-Okoye have been appointed Deputy Campaign Directors-General for Enugu East, Enugu North and Enugu West senatorial districts, respectively.
Barr Steve Oruruo will serve as Campaign Spokesperson and Director of the Public Communication Committee, with Dr Austin Okolie as co-spokesperson and Dr. Malachy Agbo as secretary.
In the media and communications arm, Mazi Uche Anichukwu and Dan Nwomeh, both members of the governor’s media team, will head the Directorates of New Media and Strategic Communication, and Mainstream Media, respectively.
Dr Collins Ogbu will serve as secretary of the New Media and Strategic Communication Directorate, while Dr. Reuben Onyishi will perform the same role in the Mainstream Media Directorate.
Barr Victor Udeh has been named Director of Administration, while Dr Ben Nwoye and Arc. Uche Nwatu will serve as Director and Co-Director of the Fundraising Committee, respectively.
Former Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla (retd.), will chair the Security Directorate, with former Inspector-General of Police, Ogbonna Onovo (retd.), as secretary.
The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology will head the Directorate of Government Appointees Coordination (Federal and State), with Prof. Chidiebere Onyia as secretary.
Former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Eugene Odoh, has been appointed to lead the Directorate of Inter-Party Affairs.
At the senatorial district level, Senator Osita Ngwu, Senator Ikeje Asogwa and Senator Kelvin Chukwu will coordinate the campaign council in Enugu West, Enugu North and Enugu East, respectively.
Prominent Leaders Get Advisory Roles
Among the prominent political figures and stakeholders listed for advisory roles are former Governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani; former Governor Jim Nwobodo; former Governor Sullivan Chime; former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Dr Nnamani; Prof. Barth Nnaji; Prince Arthur Eze; former Minister of Information, Frank Nweke Jr.; and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, among others.
The party said the expansive composition of the campaign council was intended to ensure broad-based participation across communities, local government areas, professional associations, support groups and other stakeholder formations.
In a joint statement announcing the council, Chukwunweike and Nnadozie said its composition reflected the party’s determination to accommodate diverse interests and mobilise stakeholders for the forthcoming elections.
“The conviction is that every community, ward, local government area, professional group, support organisation, youth body, women’s group, elder, party faithful and person of goodwill must be seen, heard and meaningfully engaged,” the statement read.
The party leadership further stressed that appointments to the campaign structure came with responsibilities and expectations beyond the prestige associated with the positions.
“Appointment into the campaign structure is therefore not merely an honour; it is a call to duty, accountability and measurable contribution,” the statement added.
The Enugu APC Campaign Council is scheduled for inauguration on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.
All members of the council have been directed to be seated before 3 p.m. for the inauguration ceremony.
