Sir Itiako Ikpokpo Appointed ALGON Director General
The ALGON National President Hon Aminu Mu’azu Maifata on Behalf of the Executive Council, (NEC) of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, (ALGON) has announced the appointment of Sir Itiako Ikpokpo as the new Director General of the association.
The appointment is sequel to his nomination by the National President and subsequent ratification by the National Executive Council at the 47th National Executive Council of the association held on 21st March, 2024 in Abuja.
Sir Itiako Ikpokpo, a serial entrepreneur brings to the ALGON stable a decade of remarkable experience, practical know-how and active involvement in Local Government governance as former two term Chairman of Isoko South Local Government, Delta State, two term Chairman of Delta ALGON, Deputy National President of ALGON and Chief of Staff to the immidiate past National President of ALGON Kolade David Alabi.
Sir Ikpokpo Was President Students Union,University of Port Harcourt and is a Graduate of History and Diplomatic Studies from same University.
The National leadership of ALGON anticipates that Sir Itiako Ikpokpo will Reposition the Association and drive critical synergy towards the improvement of local government governance in tune with emerging national and socio- political realites.
His appointment is with immediate Effect and takes over from Hajiya Binta Bello whose tenure expired in November.
He is married to Lady Peikumor Itiako-Ikpokpo and Blessed with children.

Mr Sam read Mass Communication, graduating all with Distinction in National Diploma, Higher National Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma at IMT, Enugu and Madonna University, Okija, Anambra state, while he is presently on his M.Sc programme also in Mass Communication, at National Open University of Nigeria.
He was the NUJ Chairman, Enugu state who handed over to the Caretaker Committee currently in the Council.
