Independence: Enugu LG Boss Describes Mbah’s Leadership as True Reflection of Nigeria’s Enduring Strength, Justification of Founding Fathers’ Sacrifices

As Nigeria commemorates its 65th Independence Day, the Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Dr Caleb Onyema Ani, has extended warm felicitations to the governor of Enugu state, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the people of Enugu South, Nkanu land, and Enugu State at large for their resilience in sustaining the gains of Nigeria’s independence. In a stirring statement issued on this historic occasion, the council boss lauded the unyielding and indomitable spirit, courage, and determination of Nigerians, particularly the residents of Enugu South for, who had continued to shine as beacons of hope amid challenging times.
In his Independence Day address, Dr Ani reflected on the profound significance of the milestone, describing it as a moment to honor Nigeria’s journey and celebrate the collective strides made toward a brighter future.
“Under the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Mbah, Enugu State is charting a path of progress and transformation.
“Our Governor came prepared for the sacred task of state-building, and his purposeful leadership is steering us toward a future of promise and prosperity.
“Today, even as we navigate economic challenges, we pause to give thanks for the dynamic leadership at both state and grassroots levels, which continues to inspire hope and unity”, Dr Ani acknowledged.
Dr Ani noted that “the 65th Independence Day is more than a celebration—it is a poignant reminder of Nigeria’s enduring strength and the sacrifices of its founding fathers, whose relentless struggle secured the nation’s freedom in 1960. This anniversary is a rare and significant milestone; an opportunity to reflect on our shared journey as a people, to celebrate our achievements, and to recommit to the ideals of unity, peace and progress that define us as a nation.”
The Chairman called on the people of Enugu South and Nigerians everywhere to honour the legacy of the nation’s heroes by working tirelessly for a united and prosperous Nigeria.
“Let us not forget the sacrifices of our forebears, who fought with courage and conviction to birth this great nation.
“As we celebrate today, let us renew our commitment to building a brighter future for ourselves, our children and generations yet to come. Together, we can forge a Nigeria that stands as a testament to resilience, unity, and shared dreams”, he asserted.
On behalf of the people of Enugu South, the Chairman extended heartfelt wishes for a joyous and reflective Independence Day, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to grassroots development and the upliftment of every citizen.
“As the nation marks this historic milestone, my message should serve both as a tribute to Nigeria’s heroes past and a rallying cry for a united, prosperous, and forward-looking future.
“Happy 65th Independence Day to our great nation”, he complimented.
Dr Ani’s message resonates as a clarion call for collective action, urging citizens to draw inspiration from the past while embracing the opportunities of the present.
