Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigerian Army, have arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered a stolen tricycle in Enugu State.
The suspects, identified as Ejike Emewa, 21, and Njoku Christian Chigbo, 21, were apprehended by the Command’s Crack Tactical Squad alongside soldiers stationed at Awgu in Awgu Local Government Area.
Police sources disclosed that the arrest followed a distress report received on March 9, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m., indicating that a two-man armed gang had snatched a tricycle earlier that day along New Garriki axis of Enugu.
According to the statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu state command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the assailants attacked the male rider with a dangerous weapon before dispossessing him of the tricycle and fleeing the scene.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the joint security team trailed the suspects, leading to their arrest and the recovery of the stolen tricycle.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the synergy between the Police and the Army, describing it as instrumental to the success of the operation.
He reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.
The police further disclosed that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
