Mbah, Ikeje Asogwa Shine at Enugu Media Village Awards, Senator Dedicates Honour to Governor, Constituents

Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and the Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Ikeje Asogwa, were among prominent public office holders and distinguished personalities honoured at the maiden edition of the Enugu Media Village Awards and Recognition Ceremony, held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu.

The event, which celebrated excellence in governance, leadership and public service, featured awards presented after what the organisers described as a painstaking, independent and rigorous assessment process involving project inspections, stakeholder engagements and an online public poll.

Governor Mbah received the Award of Excellence in Disruptive Innovation and Service Delivery, while Senator Asogwa was honoured with the Award for Legislative Leadership and Quality Representation.

Other recipients included Senator Osita Ngwu, Hon. Sam Chimaobi Atu, Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Engr Jude Asogwa, who emerged as the Best Local Government Chairman in Enugu State, the Enugu State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Osinachi Nnajieze, who represented Governor Mbah at the ceremony, former Senate President Ken Nnamani, alongside several other notable personalities from the public and private sectors.

Receiving the award on behalf of Senator Asogwa, who was unavoidably absent, the Senator’s Director of Media, Publicity and Communication, Hon. Samson Ezea, expressed profound appreciation to the organisers for the recognition, describing it as a strong endorsement of purposeful leadership and quality representation.

He commended Enugu Media Village for promoting professionalism and strengthening the partnership between the media and governments at various levels in the state.

“Your efforts in promoting, strengthening and repositioning good governance and effective service delivery are unprecedented and highly commendable,” Ezea said.

He also congratulated Governor Mbah on receiving the prestigious award, describing the governor as a symbol of transformational leadership whose administration has continued to attract widespread national and international recognition.

“This recognition comes as no surprise because Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah remains the poster boy of good governance in Nigeria. The numerous awards and honours conferred on him are clear testimonies to the remarkable strides of his administration, which have restored the lost glory of Enugu State, positioned it as a preferred investment destination, one of the safest states in the country and among Nigeria’s fastest-growing economies,” he stated.

Ezea disclosed that Senator Asogwa dedicated the award to Governor Mbah in recognition of his exceptional leadership and governance achievements, as well as to the people of Enugu North Senatorial District for their unwavering support and confidence.

“I wholeheartedly dedicate this award to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his outstanding governance performance and to the good people of Enugu North Senatorial District for being my greatest source of inspiration and pillars of support,” the Senator said.

Senator Asogwa also congratulated Engr. Jude Asogwa on emerging as the Best Local Government Chairman in Enugu State and extended his felicitations to all other award recipients.

Speaking further, the Senator reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a robust relationship with the media, describing it as the indispensable Fourth Estate of the Realm.

According to him, the strategic partnership with the media began during his consultations and campaigns across the 102 wards and six Local Government Areas of Enugu North Senatorial District ahead of the June 20 senatorial by-election and has remained invaluable to his legislative journey.

“I sincerely appreciate the media for their professional coverage and developmental support from then until now, and I look forward to sustaining this cordial relationship,” he said.

The lawmaker assured constituents that he remains focused on delivering meaningful democratic dividends, stressing that his legislative agenda aligns with the development blueprint of the Mbah administration.

He cited the recent inspection of the abandoned Ada Rice Irrigation Project in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area by officials of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources as one of the concrete steps already taken to facilitate the project’s immediate revitalisation.

According to him, reviving the irrigation scheme will stimulate commercial agriculture, create employment opportunities, strengthen food security and accelerate economic growth within the district and beyond.

Senator Asogwa further revealed that he had inaugurated Local Government Human Empowerment Selection Committees across the six councils of Enugu North Senatorial District to ensure a transparent, credible and merit-based process for selecting beneficiaries of forthcoming empowerment programmes targeted at farmers, vulnerable groups and other grassroots beneficiaries.

He added that several other people-centred initiatives are already in the pipeline and would soon be unveiled.

“These programmes are designed to complement the efforts and projects of our Governor and Local Government Chairmen because we are one government, one party and one people. Together, we shall make Nigeria, Enugu State and Enugu North Senatorial District greater,” the Senator declared.
