Mbah Charges APC Campaign Council to Counter Opposition Lies with Government Achievements
…Says truth must be told to enlighten the people; Nwoye urges South-East to embrace ruling party

Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has charged members of the state APC Campaign Council to intensify efforts to educate the electorate on the achievements of the governments at all levels, warning that failure to communicate the facts effectively would allow the opposition to mislead the people with what he described as falsehoods.
Mbah, who spoke during the inauguration of the Enugu State APC Campaign Council, stressed that it was the responsibility of those who possessed the right information to enlighten those who lacked it, insisting that the truth would prevail only when it was effectively communicated to the people.
He expressed concern that the opposition’s alleged misinformation could mislead unsuspecting members of the public, urging the campaign team to take its message to the grassroots and ensure that citizens understood the policies, programmes and projects being implemented by the APC-led governments.
The governor maintained that the party’s campaign should be anchored on verifiable achievements, issue-based engagement and effective communication rather than mere political rhetoric.
According to him, the electorate deserves to be adequately informed about government interventions and their implications for the welfare of the people.
He said the campaign council and all members of the party must therefore see public enlightenment as a critical responsibility in securing the people’s understanding of the party’s development agenda.
Mbah: South-East Must Prioritise Development
The governor also urged the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu, arguing that strategic political engagement with the Federal Government would help advance the region’s economic interests, attract investments and accelerate industrial development.
He said the region should look beyond political sentiments and past electoral differences to consider the long-term benefits of policies and projects capable of transforming its economy.
Mbah identified the establishment of the South-East Development Commission (SEDC), the proposed regional gas pipeline and investments in road and airport infrastructure as significant opportunities for the region.
He maintained that the South-East should strengthen its engagement with the Federal Government to maximise the benefits of these interventions and secure a more prominent role in national development.
“We are not doing this out of blind loyalty. We are doing it because of the interests of our people and because we are committed to their welfare,” he said.
On the proposed gas pipeline, Mbah explained that its importance extended beyond the physical infrastructure to the economic opportunities it could create, particularly for young people seeking employment and sustainable livelihoods.
“When you talk about a pipeline, you probably only see some steel that may be buried in the ground. But it is beyond those steel pipes. It is about our children. It is about keeping our children here. It is about industrialising the South-East, creating employment and empowering our young people to believe in the future again,” the governor stated.
He added that reliable energy infrastructure would attract industries, strengthen existing businesses and create an enabling environment for entrepreneurship across the region.
The governor also highlighted the potential benefits of improved road networks and the development of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, particularly in facilitating trade, reducing transportation costs and connecting businesses to domestic and international markets.
He noted that functional cargo facilities and improved international connectivity would ease the logistical challenges confronting businesses in the South-East and enhance the region’s competitiveness.
Nwoye: Align with Ruling Party
In his remarks, the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr Ben Nwoye, urged the people of Enugu State to identify with the ruling party, stressing the importance of political participation in determining the direction of governance and development.
He encouraged voters to support President Tinubu and other APC candidates, arguing that closer political alignment with the party in government could provide the state and the South-East with opportunities to benefit from federal policies and development initiatives.
Nwoye’s appeal underscored the party’s position that constructive engagement with the Federal Government could strengthen the region’s participation in national affairs and improve its prospects of attracting development projects.
Mba Assures on Issue-Based Campaign
In his acceptance speech, the Director-General of the Enugu State APC Campaign Council, Chief Charles Mba, expressed confidence in the ability of his team to deliver on its mandate across the party’s candidates in the 2027 general elections.
He said the council would adopt an issue-based campaign strategy to inform the electorate about the party’s programmes, policies and achievements at the various levels of government.
Mba explained that the campaign would focus on providing the people with relevant information to enable them to assess the administration’s performance and understand the development agenda being pursued by the party.
He added that the council was committed to sustaining the delivery of democratic dividends through effective mobilisation, public enlightenment and grassroots engagement.
The inauguration marked the commencement of the council’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with the governor urging members to make factual communication and public enlightenment central to their activities.
He used the occasion to reiterate that the APC’s campaign should demonstrate how government policies and investments could translate into improved infrastructure, industrial growth, employment opportunities and better living conditions for the people.
