Ohaneze Emphasises Viable Economy For Ndigbo

The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah has said that he believes in economically viable Igbo race where human and natural resources are put to good use for economic growth.
The governor,who was represented by his Deputy Barrister Ifeanyi Ossai stated this on Wednesday ,at the one-day retreat of Ohanaeze NdÃgbo in Enugu with the Theme “Ako BU Ije”
The Governor commended the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo for their sacrifices as they continue to work for sustainable development and unity in our communities.
“We must think home and the best way to do this is making here viable.we must unleash the person in us and do away with the mentality that anyone is holding us down”.
He reiterated some efforts of the State government towards tackling social issues, especially in education.
Governor Mbah added, that the war is over and as such NdÃgbo should be more concerned about how to transform the fortunes of the people.
The Governor stressed that the removal of train from the exclusive list , has created a huge task for the economic committee of Ohanaeze NdÃgbo.
He noted that the committee should look into creating a common market and economic integration of the region and the railway system comes handy in achieving this.
He said Igbos should be interested in making the dry ports work and how to explore our access to the ocean which he disclosed, has a shorter distance than what they have in Dubai.
Speaking earlier at the event was the President General Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide and the chairman of the event,Rear Admiral Allison Madueke said that the theme of the event has said it all that “Ako Na Uche But Ije Anyi” saying that it is time to take a step forward noting that if you walk without wisdom,you mix your step,he stressed that you need to assess your journey and give yourself a score card.”If the Jews can do it,we have more potentials natural resources at our disposal which can be used to develop this region.”
