UPM Endorses Nwebonyi for Second Term, Vows Massive APC Votes in 2027

The Urban Progressive Minds (UPM), a socio-political group based in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has endorsed the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate and Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi, for a second term, while pledging to mobilise overwhelming support for him and other All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement came during a solidarity visit by members of the group to the senator’s residence in Abakaliki on Saturday.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Coordinator of UPM, Comrade Ogbuani Ifeanyi, commended Senator Nwebonyi’s performance in the 10th Senate, describing him as an effective lawmaker whose representation has given Ebonyi State a stronger voice in national politics.

According to him, although many residents in the urban areas did not fully support the APC during the 2023 general elections due to prevailing circumstances at the time, the group had resolved to reverse that trend by mobilising massive support for the party in 2027.

“We have come to identify with your achievements and to assure you that we will work tirelessly to deliver overwhelming votes for you and all APC consensus candidates in the next general elections,” he said.

In his vote of thanks, another member of the group, Comrade Efor Unya, applauded Senator Nwebonyi for what he described as his outstanding legislative contributions and quality representation of Ebonyi North Senatorial District.

He also praised the leadership of Governor Francis Nwifuru, saying the governor’s developmental strides had further strengthened the confidence of the people in the APC administration.

Unya assured that residents of the urban areas would vote massively for all APC consensus candidates in the 2027 elections.

Responding, Senator Nwebonyi thanked the group for the visit and their vote of confidence, assuring them that they would be accommodated in his empowerment programmes.

The lawmaker highlighted some of his interventions in the urban areas, including the construction of the Obama Mechanic Site Road and the recently flagged-off Amike Aba Town Hall Road.

He also disclosed plans to provide four solar-powered motorised boreholes with streetlights in strategic locations, alongside the construction of additional roads within the city.

Senator Nwebonyi urged the people of Ebonyi State to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing the administration’s infrastructure projects in the South-East, particularly the ongoing Ebonyi–Benue–Abuja Link Road, which he said he facilitated.

He equally appealed for sustained support for Governor Francis Nwifuru, describing him as a visionary leader and astute administrator committed to the holistic development of Ebonyi State.

The senator noted that the visit further broadened his support base in the constituency, coming on the heels of a similar courtesy visit by the Association of Urban Residents led by Comrade Kenneth Nwovu.

According to the visiting groups, Senator Nwebonyi’s performance in office has continued to attract widespread public support, expressing confidence that he remains the preferred choice for a second term in 2027.
