2027: Prince-Henry Hart Declares for Reps, Hails Mbah’s Leadership as Catalyst for Enugu’s Growth

An aspirant for the Igboetiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections, Prince-Henry Hart Ucheonwu, has formally declared his intention to contest, while commending the leadership style of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, describing it as a magnet attracting seasoned professionals committed to sustainable development.

Prince-Henry Hart made the declaration weekend during a well-attended meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chapter at Ukpabi Nimbo, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, where party faithful and stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the future of the area ahead of the 2027 polls.

Addressing party members, the aspirant said Governor Mbah’s governance approach, anchored on innovation, inclusiveness, and performance, inspired his renewed decision to join active politics and contribute meaningfully to public service.

“What we are witnessing in Enugu State today is a new governance culture driven by results and professionalism. Governor Peter Mbah has demonstrated that leadership can truly transform a state when competence meets vision,” He said.

He further noted that the governor’s ability to attract technocrats and professionals into governance aligns with the demands of 21st-century democracy, which he said prioritises efficiency, accountability, and measurable impact.

Speaking on the economic prospects of the state, Hart highlighted the recent recognition of Enugu as an oil-producing state as a major milestone with far-reaching implications.

“The oil-producing status of Enugu State is a game-changer. It opens up new streams of revenue and positions the state for accelerated economic growth. With over three decades of experience in the oil sector, I am well-equipped to facilitate policies and initiatives that will ensure these resources translate into real empowerment for our people,” he added.

He assured constituents that his legislative agenda, if elected, would focus on resource optimisation, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and equitable representation.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area, Chijioke Ezugwu, who was represented by the Deputy Chairman, Mrs Vera Ezugwu, expressed appreciation to party stakeholders for their unwavering support.

He called for sustained loyalty to the APC leadership at all levels, including Governor Mbah and President Bola Tinubu, emphasising the need for continuity in governance.

“We must remain steadfast and united in our support for the leadership that has continued to deliver good governance. Loyalty and consistency are key to consolidating the gains we have made as a party,” he stated.

Also speaking, the member representing Uzo-Uwani Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Chukwuma Ekwueme and the Member Three, Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, Dr Barth Ezugwu commended the orderly conduct of party activities in the area, describing it as a reflection of internal cohesion and maturity within the party structure.

“The strength of any political party lies in its unity. I am impressed with the level of organization and discipline demonstrated here today. We must continue to carry everyone along and ensure that no one is left behind,” Ekwueme said.

He further urged party members to avoid internal conflicts and embrace peace throughout the electioneering process.

“This is not the time for rancour or division. Our focus should be on building consensus and strengthening our collective resolve to achieve victory in 2027,” he added.

The meeting ended on a note of optimism, with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to party unity and effective grassroots mobilisation as preparations gradually begin for the next general elections.

Secretary to Uzo-Uwani local government, Barr Casmir Ademu, former chairmen of the local government area, Chief Dan Okweli and Richard Egwuma, Chairman Adada General Assembly, Hon. Laz Ogbonna, former Deputy Chairman of the Council, Pius Okeagu, former member representing Uzo-Uwani in the state House of Assembly, Hon.Josephat Okika, among other dignitaries, attended the meeting presided over by the APC chairman in the local government area, Kingsley Ani.
