Performance Speaks Louder: Enugu Party Chieftain Backs Mbah’s Second Term Bid on Wave of Rapid Development
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aspirant for the House of Representatives seat for Igboetiti/Uzo-Uwani Federal Constituency, Enugu state, Sir Engr Prince-Henry Hart Ucheonwu has said that the scale of development recorded under Governor Peter Mbah justifies growing calls for a second term.
Prince-Henry Hart, who spoke with newsmen in Enugu, said the governor’s performance within a short period had altered governance expectations across the state, particularly in Enugu North Senatorial District.
He noted that the administration’s emphasis on infrastructure, healthcare, and education had begun to yield visible results, stressing that continuity would be critical to sustaining the momentum.
According to him, the ongoing dualisation of the Enugu-Opi road reflects a deliberate effort to boost economic activities and improve connectivity across communities.
“The Enugu-Opi road project is not just about expanding lanes; it is about opening up the economic potential of several communities and easing movement for businesses and residents,” Prince-Henry Hart said.
He also commended the establishment of Smart Schools across the state, describing the initiative as a strategic investment in the future.
“The Smart Schools initiative shows foresight. It is designed to equip our children with the skills needed in a modern, technology-driven world,” he added.
On healthcare, Hart pointed to the rollout of Smart Type-2 Hospitals in the 260 wards and the ongoing construction of an International Hospital, noting that the projects were repositioning the state’s health sector.
“With these hospitals, access to quality healthcare is being brought closer to the people, while the International Hospital will place Enugu on the map as a destination for advanced medical services,” he said.
The APC aspirant further attributed the pace of development to the governor’s leadership style, which he described as result-oriented and driven by private-sector discipline.
“Governor Mbah has introduced a system where targets are set and results are expected. That is why we are seeing progress across different sectors within a short time,” he stated.
Prince-Henry Hart, who has over three decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, said the administration had also attracted professionals into governance, creating a strong team capable of delivering on its objectives.
“Many professionals are willing to support this administration because of the level of competence and clarity of purpose. It is encouraging to see governance driven by expertise,” he said.
Speaking further on developments in Enugu North Senatorial District, Prince-Henry Hart said communities in the area were already benefiting from improved infrastructure and increased economic opportunities. He also acknowledged that the Teaching Hospital of the Enugu State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (ESUMAS) put in place had already begun to give the people a breath of hope on improved tertiary healthcare services.
“There is a noticeable shift in our communities. Roads are improving, and there is greater inclusion in government programmes. People can see and feel the impact,” he noted.
While reaffirming his aspiration to represent Igboetiti/Uzo-Uwani at the National Assembly, Prince-Henry Hart said his focus would be to complement development efforts at the federal level.
“My goal is to provide effective representation that aligns with the progress we are beginning to witness at the state level,” he said.
He maintained that the achievements recorded so far by the Mbah administration provided a strong basis for continuity.
“From infrastructure to human capital development, the administration has set a clear direction. Sustaining this progress will require continuity to fully realise its long-term benefits,” He added.
He emphasised that governance should be evaluated based on measurable impact, noting that the current administration had raised the bar in that regard.
“What matters to the people is results, and that is what this administration is delivering,” he said.
The House of Representatives hopeful urged the people of the area to turn out en masse to receive the governor as he visits Enugu North senatorial district on Saturday in full solidarity and appreciation of his favour to the district, with manifest backing for the second term bid.
