Ebonyi LG Polls: Gallop Wins APC Amuzu Ward Councillorship Ticket
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has produced Mr Oru Azubuike Cornelius, popularly known as Gallop, as its councillorship candidate for Amuzu Ward in Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections across the state.
Gallop emerged victorious after polling 796 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Chidi Orichi, who garnered 420 votes in a keenly contested exercise.
Addressing supporters of the two aspirants before the commencement of the primary, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee and Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon. Kingsley Ikoro, urged party members to conduct themselves peacefully and shun any act capable of disrupting the process.
He warned that any contestant whose supporters engaged in conduct inimical to the credibility of the exercise would be automatically disqualified, while assuring all aspirants of a level playing field.
In his remarks, the Secretary of the Electoral Committee and Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Hon. Sunday Ogbonnia, assured party members that the committee would ensure transparency and fairness, allowing voters to freely make their choices without manipulation.
As at the time of filing this report, the electoral committee had concluded the exercise in the ward and proceeded to the collation centre at the Ezza South Local Government headquarters.
The APC adopted the Option A4 method in conducting its councillorship primaries across the state.
Meanwhile, reports from across Ebonyi State indicate that most councillorship aspirants emerged unopposed in their respective wards, except in a few areas where reconciliation efforts among aspirants failed.
