Mbah Approves Recruitment of Over 6,500 Teachers for Enugu Smart Green Schools
Governor Peter Mbah has approved the recruitment of more than 6,500 qualified teachers and other personnel into the Enugu State public education system as part of efforts to strengthen the delivery of quality education through the state’s flagship Smart Green School initiative.
The recruitment, which covers academic, technical and administrative positions, is aimed primarily at staffing the 267 Smart Green Schools established across the state, in line with the administration’s commitment to providing the human resources needed to drive its education reform agenda.
Announcing the exercise in a statement, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Prof. Hyginus Okibe Banko, said the recruitment would be conducted transparently and would attract qualified candidates with the requisite academic and professional credentials.
According to the statement, applicants for teaching positions must possess either a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant discipline with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), or a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in the specified subject areas.
It added that registration with, or evidence of ongoing registration by, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is a mandatory requirement for all teaching positions.
The board also disclosed that vacancies are available for holders of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE/WASSCE) qualifications in relevant non-teaching positions.
Applicants seeking Degree or HND positions are required to possess a valid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Discharge or Exemption Certificate and must demonstrate practical proficiency in the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools across all cadres.
Interested candidates are expected to submit a formal application letter accompanied by a detailed curriculum vitae (CV), copies of academic and professional certificates, a birth certificate or sworn declaration of age, as well as valid contact details.
The statement explained that hard-copy applications should be submitted to the Office of the Executive Chairman, Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Enugu.
For online applications, candidates are required to merge all relevant documents into a single PDF file and forward it to the board’s official email address: ensubebofficial@outlook.com.
The recruitment exercise closes on Friday, August 14, 2026, and prospective applicants have been advised to adhere strictly to the stipulated application guidelines.
