Mbah Appoints New Commissioners, Reconstitutes Boards in Enugu
Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, has approved the appointment of new commissioners, board chairmen, executive secretaries and other senior officials across key agencies of the state government.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Chidiebere Onyia.
According to the statement, Barr Osinachi Nnajieze and Dr C. O. C. Egumgbe have been named Commissioners-designate to fill vacancies created by the resignation of some commissioners months ago. Their names have been forwarded to the Enugu State House of Assembly for confirmation.
In other senior appointments, Kenechukwu Nnamani was appointed Managing Director of the Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ENSIDA), while James Chukwuemeka Mbah emerged as Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board. Dr Eric Oluedo was named Executive Secretary of the Local Government Staff Pensions Board, and Mrs Sylvia Onwubuemeli was appointed Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Library Board.
Monday Diamond Ani was appointed State Coordinator of the Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).
Governor Mbah also approved the reconstitution of the Governing Board of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB). The members are Hon. Afam Nnaji (Member 1), Dr Mrs Uche Eze (Member 2), Dr Mrs Oge Uka (Member 4), Mrs Rita Chimaobi Ihemeje (representing Enugu West Senatorial District), Mrs Justina Ugwu (representing Enugu North Senatorial District), and Dr Nnenna Ogbonna (representing Enugu East Senatorial District). Others are Theophilus Nweke, representing the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mrs Juliet Ifesinachi Ani, representing the State Women Group, with Dr Luke Ohabuenyi Ezema as Secretary.
Additional appointments approved by the governor include Dr Mrs Nneka Onyebuchi and Patrick Onwe as members of the Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB). Barr Nwabueze Ugwu was appointed Chairman of the Governing Council of the Enugu State College of Education (Technical), while Chief Nwabueze Nnamani emerged as Board Chairman of the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation (ESHDC).
Richard Onaga was appointed Managing Director of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency (ESWAMA), and Hon. Bob Itanyi was named Managing Director of the Enugu State Transport Company (ENTRACO). Barr Richard Agu was appointed Board Chairman of Enugu Air, while Rt Hon. U.S.A. Igwesi was named Board Chairman of the New Enugu Smart City Development Authority.
Further appointments include Hon. Chika Igwesi as Chairman of the Enugu State Road Maintenance and Development Agency; Hon. Chidera Odo as Chairman of the Enugu State Roads Fund; and Hon. Barr Manfred Nzekwe as Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Roads Fund.
Dr John Egbo was appointed Managing Director of the Enugu East Zone Transport Terminals, while Hon. Prince Emeka Mamah was named Managing Director of the Enugu North Zone Transport Terminals. Rev. Chimaobi Aninwene was also appointed a member of the Enugu State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The statement noted that all appointments, except those requiring legislative confirmation, take immediate effect.
