Police Recover Snatched Truck in Enugu,Move After Fleeing Criminals
Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have recovered a Sinotruk truck that was earlier snatched at gunpoint in Delta State, following a swift intelligence-led operation in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The truck was recovered in the early hours of January 31, 2026, along Ndeabor Road in Awgu community by police operatives attached to the Awgu Division. The recovery followed credible intelligence indicating that the vehicle, stolen on January 29, 2026, at Ogwuashi-Uku in Delta State, had been moved into Enugu State.
Police sources said that upon sighting the operatives, the suspected criminals abandoned the truck and escaped into a nearby forest.
Confirming the development in a statement issued yesterday, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects, while investigations had commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the crime.
He disclosed that the owner of the recovered vehicle had been identified and would be reunited with the truck upon the conclusion of necessary police procedures.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, urged members of the public, particularly vehicle owners, to promptly report cases of crimes against property to the police to enable timely intervention.
CP Giwa reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property across Enugu State, stressing that the police would continue to deploy intelligence-driven strategies to combat crime and criminality in the state.
The Enugu State Police Command reiterated its call for sustained cooperation from the public, noting that credible information remains critical to effective policing and improved security outcomes.
