Asogwa Canvasses Support For APC Candidates in Enugu LG Polls
…Plans ₦2bn empowerment programme for Enugu North constituents
Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Ikeje Asogwa, has called on the people of Enugu State to support candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the forthcoming local government elections and the 2027 general elections.
Asogwa, who is also the APC candidate for Enugu North Senatorial District in the 2027 election, made the call during the party’s campaign flag-off in Igbo-Etiti and Nsukka Local Government Areas of the state.
The campaign rallies were held at Ogbede, headquarters of Igbo-Etiti LGA, and Nsukka Stadium, Nsukka LGA.
The senator also announced plans to organise a ₦2 billion mega empowerment programme for constituents of Enugu North Senatorial District on December 12, describing human empowerment as one of his major priorities in office.
According to him, the programme, which will take place within his first six months in the Senate, is designed to improve the economic wellbeing of constituents across the six local government areas that make up the senatorial district.
He said: “I am committed to empowering our people and giving them the means to become economically independent.”
Asogwa further claimed that the initiative would make him the first senator in the South-East, if not Nigeria, to undertake an empowerment programme of such magnitude within six months of assuming office.
He urged APC supporters and constituents to vote massively for the party’s candidates in the forthcoming local government elections, stressing that sustained support for the APC would be crucial ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The rallies were attended by the Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike; members of the state executive committee; political leaders; party faithful and other stakeholders from Igbo-Etiti and Nsukka local government areas.
