Tinubu’s Reforms Laying Foundation for Prosperous Nigeria, Eyewitness Network Says
The Eyewitness Network (EWN) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the completion of three years in office, describing his administration’s economic and governance reforms as bold, courageous and essential for rebuilding Nigeria’s economy and securing long-term national development.
The group, in a statement issued on Monday after a high-level meeting of its national leadership and zonal directors, urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that the current economic challenges were temporary and necessary for sustainable national progress.
According to the Network, President Tinubu inherited enormous economic and security challenges but has remained steadfast in implementing far-reaching reforms aimed at repositioning the country for economic growth, improved governance and greater prosperity.
The meeting was chaired by the National Director, Exlibris Christopher Ekefre, with the Deputy National Director, Hajiya Bera’u Dahiru Auwal, and the National Secretary, Dr Saviour Ekpe, in attendance.
Also present were the National Vice Director (North West) and National Legal Adviser, Barr Mannir Dahiru, Ph.D; National Vice Director (South-South), Hon. Barth Inneh Ozah; National Vice Director (South-West), Chief Barr. A. Eniola-Ajipe; National Vice Director (North-East), Hajiya Hussaina Dikko; National Vice Director (South-East), Emmanuel Ifesinachi; and National Vice Director (North-Central), Dr. Zakka Isa Fom.
The Network noted that the administration’s economic reforms had strengthened public finances, increased revenue available to the three tiers of government, improved investor confidence and enhanced macroeconomic stability.
It further applauded the Federal Government’s massive investment in infrastructure, citing the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway and several strategic road and rail projects across the country as critical investments capable of stimulating commerce, improving transportation and accelerating national development.
The group also praised ongoing reforms in the oil and gas sector, saying they had attracted fresh investments, expanded domestic refining capacity, promoted gas development and strengthened Nigeria’s energy security.
Similarly, it acknowledged efforts to improve electricity infrastructure through reforms in the power sector, noting that such initiatives would boost industrial growth and economic productivity.
On agriculture, the Network commended programmes designed to increase food production, support farmers, strengthen food security and reduce dependence on imported food.
It equally hailed the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a landmark intervention that has widened access to higher education by providing financial assistance to eligible Nigerian students, thereby promoting human capital development.
The organisation also recognised the administration’s sustained investment in national security through improved funding, acquisition of modern equipment and enhanced support for the Armed Forces and other security agencies in their efforts to protect lives and property.
While acknowledging that the ongoing reforms have imposed significant economic hardship on many Nigerians, the Network maintained that such sacrifices were inevitable in the process of rebuilding a stable economy capable of delivering long-term prosperity.
It, therefore, appealed to citizens to remain united and continue supporting government policies aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, economic recovery, peace, national unity and sustainable development.
Reaffirming its commitment to responsible citizenship and constructive national engagement, the Eyewitness Network expressed confidence that with sustained public support and effective leadership, Nigeria would continue on the path of lasting peace, shared prosperity and inclusive national development.
